GTA 3: The Definitive Edition Makes a Strong Comeback on PS Plus

The iconic game returns to the PS Plus service with significant enhancements, earning praise from gamers this time around.

Grand Theft Auto 3: The Definitive Edition has made its way back to the PS Plus service, enhanced and ready for a warm reception. It is a part of the GTA: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition series, which revamps three of the franchise’s most celebrated games. This is the second chance for some PlayStation users to enjoy GTA 3: The Definitive Edition for free, having previously been available on the retired PlayStation Now service in 2021. This time, however, feedback is far more favorable, contrasting with the earlier criticism that labeled this version as the “worst revision.”

Sony released GTA 3: The Definitive Edition in PS Plus Extra to commemorate Days of Play. Also added to the subscription were three other titles, including Another Crab’s Treasure, Skull and Bones, and Destiny 2: Legacy Collection.

Fans have taken to Reddit to express their enthusiasm over the improved visuals and performance, showing appreciation for the lighting that brings back the original essence, and the resolution of many bugs and glitches. These upgrades were part of a significant update released in November 2024, which also improved the other games in the Definitive Edition pack. Following this patch, San Andreas: The Definitive Edition experienced an increase in players, indicating that Rockstar’s commitment to enhancing GTA: The Trilogy is yielding positive results.

In summary, GTA 3: The Definitive Edition has been offered on the PS Plus Extra subscription since June 10 for both PS5 and PS4 users and is expected to remain available for an extended period. Players can also look forward to a robust lineup for the rest of June’s PS Plus Extra subscription, featuring renowned titles such as FBC: Firebreak and Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted 2.
