The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Meta, Andrew Bosworth, has responded to numerous complaints from users and developers about significant issues following the rollout of the new Meta Quest v77 update. Users have reported various problems, including audio issues, freezing in media playback, and more, which have frustrated both gamers and developers alike.
In a previous statement this May, Bosworth had acknowledged feedback regarding certain changes made to the Meta Quest headsets, particularly concerning frame rates in Battery Saver mode. He expressed gratitude for the community’s and developers’ feedback and assured that the issues would be rectified, with improved quality control for future updates. However, current reports indicate that developers feel their concerns were not adequately addressed.
Bosworth openly admitted during an AMA session that some problems had been identified prior to the update’s release but proceeded anyway, citing that these issues were not affecting a “huge number of people.” He asserted his commitment to addressing the concerns and improving overall quality control in future updates, while also noting that some issues might be linked to necessary firmware updates from Qualcomm, as the Meta Quest 3 utilizes a Qualcomm chipset.
For now, Meta Quest users and developers alike can only wait for an updated fix, hoping to resolve the emerging issues without further delays. Both parties aim for resolutions that will not hinder the ongoing development of Meta Quest titles.
