At long last, Dune: Awakening is officially released. Players who bought the more expensive editions began playing on June 5, but today marks the full launch of Funcom’s survival MMO. As of 7:00 AM PST, the game is up and running, and I’ve been monitoring its launch, community reactions, and server performance.
The initial response has been quite encouraging. The game peaked at 142,050 concurrent players on launch day, making it the ninth most played game on Steam according to SteamDB. While there have been some minor server issues, the overall feedback has been positive with players eager to explore Arrakis. The number of players is expected to rise through this week, particularly into the weekend.
We will continue updating this coverage, so stay tuned for more news as it develops. For those new to Dune: Awakening, there are plenty of guides available to assist you.
