Team Ninja is actively refining Ninja Gaiden 4, merging the distinctive flair of PlatinumGames with the classic elements that fans cherish.

In an insightful discussion post-Xbox showcase, PlatinumGames director Yuji Nakao remarked, “The game itself is being developed by PlatinumGames, but Team Ninja receives daily builds. We engage in thorough discussions about action mechanics and gameplay balancing.”

Team Ninja director Masakazu Hirayama emphasized the intent to integrate Platinum’s stylish approach while preserving the authentic gameplay experience expected by long-time fans. He stated, “We aim to embody the unique qualities of Platinum while ensuring Ryu remains true to his legacy.”

Hirayama further elaborated on a new gameplay element resembling the parry system from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, offering a ‘perfect guard’ mechanic that rewards well-timed defensive moves with unique counterattacks. “Success yields blood essence which can be spent on ultimate moves,” he added, highlighting how they aim to fuse contemporary mechanics with classic gameplay.

Anticipated for release on October 20, Ninja Gaiden 4 is shaping up to be one of the standout titles at Summer Game Fest 2025.
