Destiny 2’s New Episode Features Dreadnought Return
Long before Destiny 2 garnered acclaim with expansions like Forsaken and The Witch Queen, The Taken King signified a peak in the franchise. Nestled aboard the Dreadnought, the colossal ship of Hive God Oryx, the first installment truly thrived with unforgettable moments.
As time progressed, Oryx was ultimately defeated, leading to multiple sequels and a shift to free-to-play formats. However, a recent developer livestream by Bungie confirmed that players will revisit the Dreadnought in the upcoming Heresy episode.
In the lore, after the Traveler’s liberation from the malevolent Witness, mysterious echoes of power have resurfaced in the solar system. It seems that a significant necromancer may have returned: Oryx is “back in some capacity,” Bungie confirmed.
Players will join forces with Eris Morn and the Drifter as they journey back to the rejuvenated Dreadnought, where new threats await. The episode’s core challenge, The Nether, will provide a roguelite experience across Dreadnought zones from the first game.
Moreover, players can expect enhanced defensive stats but will need to seek health-restoring items during encounters. Bungie emphasizes player feedback in storytelling, promising a more immersive approach in its mission structure.
Expect a plethora of new armor, weaponry, and intriguing mechanics such as the Lodestar, an exotic trace rifle using primary ammo that can charge by inflicting arc damage. PvP enthusiasts will also see key adjustments in the Trials of Osiris, removing previous restrictions to foster greater accessibility.
Finally, a dungeon named Sundered Doctrine is slated to debut shortly after Heresy, further enhancing gameplay experiences for the community.
