Overwatch 2 Prepares for Upcoming Adjustments to Sombra

In response to Sombra's significant ban rate, Overwatch 2 announces new adjustments aimed at balancing her character.

Overwatch 2 is set to implement necessary changes for Sombra due to her extraordinarily high ban rate in Competitive Play. As a part of the recent updates, players can vote to exclude heroes they prefer not to face, which has led to Sombra’s rise as the most banned character. Previously undergoing several significant adjustments, the game’s developers indicate more nerfs will follow.

Key Points:

  • Sombra’s ban rate reached 93% on consoles and 85% on PC.
  • Changes may coincide with the introduction of Hero Bans in Season 16, allowing players to vote on characters they wish to ban in matches.

Alec Dawson articulated the rationale behind these forthcoming changes, stating: “Features like Hero Bans and Map Voting help us gauge the necessary maintenance for the game. For instance, Sombra’s high ban rate indicates areas we need to improve.”

It’s uncertain when these changes will take effect, but players speculate they might arrive around June 24, coinciding with the launch of Season 17.
