Atlus has finally acknowledged a long-held secret: the studio is in the process of remaking Persona 4. In their recent showcase, they shared a teaser that left much to be desired but did provide a glimpse of Inaba in ultra-HD.
From their recent remarks, it’s clear that while remakes are on the table, fans are eager for new content as well. The last original Persona game, Persona 5, was released in 2016. To address this, P-Studio’s director, Kazuhisa Wada, stated:
“Additionally, we are actively preparing for the future development of the Persona series as a studio. We are working hard to meet the expectations of fans around the world and our work is progressing well.”
Translation: This statement signals that new entries in the Persona series will be in development after the remake’s release.
With Katsura Hashino, the long-time director of the series, now at Studio Zero working on Metaphor: ReFantazio, this upcoming game will be the first mainline entry not helmed by him.
The announcement, although overshadowed by the remake’s details, suggests that there is hope for fans waiting for a new installment in the beloved series.
