Discover the Unique Brinepunk Shooter Abyssus Revealed at PC Gaming Show 2025

Abyssus, described as a brinepunk roguelite shooter, was showcased at the PC Gaming Show 2025. The game features unique gameplay involving brine-powered weapons set amidst a sunken kingdom.

Today’s incredible PC Gaming Show 2025 introduced a new trailer for Abyssus, a title characterized as a “brinepunk roguelite.” But what does that mean exactly?

It seems to involve the use of “powerful brine-powered weapons”, which players can customize and enhance with mysterious “ancient technologies”.

Set in a world where everything runs on brine — not just commonplace saltwater but a rare substance sourced from the ocean’s depths, “brinepunk explorers” embark on daring missions. The game kicks off as players discover a submerged kingdom rich in brine, but the adventure turns chaotic as corrupted denizens rise against them.

The gameplay emphasizes the importance of teamwork, allowing players to synergize their loadouts for greater rewards, such as better odds of survival. With a design reminiscent of Kill Me Plenty, Abyssus is built around a ‘merciless roguelite gauntlet’, ensuring no run feels identical to the last.

Abyssus boasts eight core weapons and 45 modifications, focusing on skillset enhancement and varied character suits. As players progress through their runs, they accumulate upgrades and options — even with the most formidable brine-based armaments, challenges remain ever-present. The trailer hinted that gunfeel will play a central role in this game, with comparisons drawn to leading franchises well warranted.

With up to four players navigating a stunning 64 handcrafted levels, procedurally sequenced to guarantee fresh gameplay experiences, they will also encounter 36 enemy varieties and four giant bosses right upon launch.

One intriguing question posed on Abyssus’ Steam page was, “Can we weaponize an anglerfish?” The answer should be a resounding yes if the developers have their way.
