A Closer Look at Sleep Awake: The Upcoming Psychedelic Horror Game

Exploring the intriguing visuals and themes of Sleep Awake, a horror game from notable creators.

About three years ago, Cory Davis, the creative director of Spec Ops: The Line, and Robin Fink, long-time guitarist with bands like Nine Inch Nails, announced their game studio Eyes Out by performing some screeching in the California desert.

Now, we’ve received the impressively atmospheric trailer for Sleep Awake, a “first-person psychedelic thriller that explores the realm between slumber and death.” It’s set to launch sometime in 2026.

“I cannot sleep, I cannot sleep, I must not sleep,” says the protagonist as we’re shown psychedelic images of an otherworldly place interspersed with grim visuals at a site called the Somnological Institute, where troubling experiments likely take place.

“Sleep Awake is an immersive first-person psychedelic horror narrative experience that explores the realm between sleep and death. Submitted to perpetual insomnia, the denizens of the last known city on Earth face a panic crisis, conducting reckless experiments to avoid The HUSH, the mysterious disappearance of those who sleep.”

Playing as Katja, you must evade various depraved death cults while trying to remain awake. The game’s trailer features haunting visuals in shades of pink, violet, and scarlet as the protagonist tries to find a solution to their plight.

In summary, Sleep Awake looks to blend engaging narrative with the chilling atmosphere of horror, promising an experience that will keep players on the edge of their seats.

You can find Sleep Awake on Steam, scheduled for release next year.
