Fallout 76 Introduces Fishing in Radioactive Waters with a Major Combat Update

The new 'Gone Fission' update for Fallout 76 allows players to fish in contaminated waters and includes significant combat adjustments.

Fishing in Fallout 76’s Irradiated Waters

The latest update for Fallout 76, titled Gone Fission, introduces fishing into the game’s radioactive environments. Players can look forward to trying their luck at angling in locations like the newly added Fisherman’s Rest. Here, you will meet The Fisherman, who will start you on the Casting Off questline, allowing you to obtain a brand new fishing rod.

Fishing mechanics have seen enhancements; while you can fish in any water, starting with a basic rod will only net you common fish and junk. To land rare catches such as axolotls or glowing specimens, players must upgrade their rods by completing challenges and daily objectives, as well as acquiring better bait with weather conditions influencing catch rates.

The update also includes extensive combat revamps, integrating weapon tweak and balancing adjustments for melee items. Notably, the update aims to improve limb damage and crippling mechanics, making confrontation easier for players while presented challenges remain tougher for bosses.
