In the realm of video games, classic themes often overlap, yet Outerloop’s forthcoming RPG, Dosa Divas, redefines these paradigms by intertwining culinary arts with robotics and themes of mortality.
As players embrace this unique adventure, they will face off against a fast-food conglomerate known as LinaMeals, which serves meals in plastic tubes to a docile public. One character reflects the sad reality: “No one cooks anymore.”
To conquer LinaMeals, players will procure ingredients and prepare meals, not only to satisfy starving villagers but also to use in combat against the corporate minions. The game introduces a JRPG-style combat system where enemies have specific flavor cravings that dictate their vulnerabilities. For instance, cooking and using food-themed weapons becomes key in battles.
In a twist, one of the protagonists partners with a ‘spirit-mech’ robot named Goddess, communicating via emoticons, with intriguing abilities including grappling and double jumps.
Chandana Ekanayake, the creative force behind the project, describes the gameplay loop as one where players navigate vibrant villages, battle corporate antagonists, mend family bonds, and share last meals—a poignant exploration of life and loss in a whimsical package. Dosa Divas is set to release in early 2026, and already promises to be a heartwarming yet bizarre journey.
