Elden Ring Nightreign Servers Go Offline for Maintenance, Frustrating Players

Elden Ring Nightreign's servers shut down unexpectedly to improve matchmaking, leading to player outcry as many were left in troublesome situations.

Elden Ring Nightreign has had a tough week, not due to low player numbers—over 3.5 million copies were sold within just five days—but because of major performance issues. Players have been facing frustrations primarily with the matchmaking system. While solo runs can be bearable, trying to queue with a partner has proven nearly impossible, often requiring users to wait extensive amounts of time.

Some notable players, including Ted Litchfield, reported waiting for hours without any match.

In response, FromSoftware acknowledged the problems and suggested a few fixes while working on a more permanent solution to alleviate these issues.

Maintenance Announcement: Recently, FromSoftware informed players about planned maintenance: “Servers will be taken offline for updates aimed at enhancing expedition matchmaking.” However, some players missed the memo and faced disheartening moments just before defeating bosses, such as losing matches right before server disconnections.

Such frustrations were expressed widely, with players lamenting their wasted efforts and time. Despite these issues, some managed to have fruitful gameplay moments right before server shutdowns, gathering anecdotes about their last-minute victories.
