Marvel Snap—a card game that captivated many players in 2022—has recently issued a significant apology to its community following an outage caused by TikTok’s temporary ban in the US.
During this interruption, which was later resolved, users of Marvel Snap missed out on various time-sensitive content, rewards, and missions. To make up for this disruption, the game’s developer, Second Dinner, announced an array of free rewards as a gesture of goodwill.
Details of the Apology
In a post on social media, Second Dinner stated:
“We realize that many of you missed out on time-based content, rewards, and Missions during this outage. This disruption of service is more than just an unfortunate blip in our eyes. As such, we are not only committed to making up for this disruption, but we want to welcome back players, new and old, with some extra goodies to celebrate.”
Unfortunately, the rewards vary for US and non-US players due to differences in the impact of the outage. For instance, US players who have achieved 500 collection levels will receive:
- Two spotlight keys
- 5,000 season pass XP
- 4,150 credits
- 6,200 collector’s tokens
- 1,000 gold
- Tickets for gold and infinite conquest
- 4,000 conquest medals
- Seven mystery variant cards
In contrast, non-US players will receive a smaller compensation, reflecting their lesser exposure to the issue, akin to a small token given to avoid causing jealousy among siblings during a birthday celebration.
To ensure such issues are avoided in the future, Second Dinner is actively working to transition to a new publishing model, stating, “To make sure this never happens again, we’re working to bring more services in-house and partner with a new publisher. This is the beginning of a new era in MARVEL SNAP.”
