When it comes to video games, I cherish the ability to construct and improve a small hamlet. Reflecting on fond memories, such as rebuilding Monteriggioni in Assassin’s Creed 2 or the village in Breath of the Wild, this aspiration keeps me engaged.
Recently, I was thrilled to see that Never’s End, an upcoming tactical RPG, allows players to rebuild a village, developed by a team including veterans from popular titles like Destiny and Octopath Traveler.
In Never’s End, players will navigate turn-based battles on a grid while customizing their party. The game features chibi characters battling against skeletons and ghouls in a colorful world.
The gameplay will also allow players, as an “immortal warrior forged from living metal,” to manipulate elements like heat and terrain. This innovative mechanic could create a range of strategic possibilities.
Moreover, town-building is a key aspect. As players upgrade towns, temples, and businesses, they can establish trade routes and recruit new companions. The game is set to launch on Steam soon, promising an engaging blend of tactics and creativity.
