3D printing has transformed the creation of miniatures and terrain for tabletop gaming. Recently, a Czech Dungeons & Dragons group, Bez Zástěny, unveiled an astonishingly large 7.5-foot (2.3 meters) tall model of Castle Ravenloft, which weighs around 130 pounds (60 kg).
This impressive structure required approximately 3,700 hours of printing across multiple machines, with the group reportedly losing track of how much plastic filament was used in its construction. The challenge was so significant that the model was too tall to fit on standard gaming tables—even those with high ceilings.
“It took about 3,700 print hours on several printers,” Bez Zástěny mentioned on Reddit, adding that they had ’lost count’ of the filament rolls consumed.
So far, the model has not been completed as the designer continues to work on the castle’s underground sections. This colossal rendition is intended for a large gameplay event in the Czech Republic this July, likely attracting many eager participants wanting to see this extraordinary creation.
Interestingly, the model’s design was supported by a crowdfunding campaign for a 3D model project titled Castle of the Vampire Lord by Mexican designer Axolote Gaming.
