CD Projekt RED Clarifies Its Commitment to AAA Open-World RPGs

CD Projekt RED has shared insights into its decision to maintain a strong focus on producing AAA open-world RPGs, asserting that sticking to this strategy allows them to offer exceptional gaming experiences. As a significant player behind renowned series like The Witcher and Cyberpunk, the studio has established itself as one of the leading developers in the RPG genre.

The announcement comes after the success of The Witcher 3, which gained massive acclaim and popularity since its release in 2015. While the previous titles in the Witcher franchise were well-received, it was this installment that notably elevated the studio’s status. The launch of Cyberpunk 2077, though initially polarizing due to its technical issues, has since seen positive feedback following numerous updates that improved its performance and overall reception.

In a recent episode of the AnsweRED Podcast, both co-founder Marcin Iwiński and co-CEO Adam Badowski elaborated on their strategy. Iwiński commented, “We must focus on what we’re skilled at, putting our full effort into it. We cannot stretch ourselves too thin.”

Badowski added that their plan revolves around the development of AAA RPG open-world narrative-driven games, indicating a clearly defined niche for the company. This specialization is aimed at ensuring quality in their upcoming projects.

It’s evident that while CD Projekt RED could explore ventures into diverse genres, their commitment to refining their craft within the RPG domain ultimately benefits gamers, promising better-quality releases in the future.
