A Terrifying Adventure Awaits in Dandelion Void: Survive a Jungle on a Spaceship
Dandelion Void presents a chilling experience aboard a derelict generation ship swarmed by hostile jungle life.
My favorite video game genre can be summed up as, “something has gone wrong in space.” Be it a shooter, immersive sim, strategy game, or even a kart racer, I always find joy in tackling perilous challenges in the most hostile environments imaginable.
And with Dandelion Void, the understanding of what constitutes a “horrible” experience is evidently heightened. In this gripping title, you find yourself trapped on a derelict generation ship, which has since been overtaken by an alien jungle, teeming with life. At first glance, this sounds benign until you realize that the local flora and fauna are aggressively hostile to anything resembling a human.
To navigate and survive in this lush nightmare, players must explore the ship, scavenging for vital resources while clearing a safe area by severing jungle roots. Getting deeper into the ship involves finding and unlocking massive bulkhead doors, which may lead to resource-rich areas or a direct route into the vacuum of space.
Dandelion Void resembles Project Zomboid in its presentation and gameplay mechanics. The developers from Manzanita Interactive have incorporated various unique elements that enrich the fundamental survival loop; for instance, you’ll need to locate and repair different types of spacesuits to traverse airless corridors or areas with radiation exposure.
It’s a bold concept, and an impressive trailer showcases its unique vision. Among the more sinister aspects are the hostile species which thrive among the remains of the ship’s long-gone crew members, illustrating the grotesque yet intriguing monster designs.
As it stands, there’s no confirmed release date for Dandelion Void, but according to an accompanying Steam post for the trailer, development has been ongoing for a couple of years. For additional information, visit its Steam page.
