Elden Ring Nightreign Seizes Steam with 300,000 Players Despite Mixed Reviews

Elden Ring's latest spinoff, Nightreign, has made a splash on Steam, drawing in a huge player base despite receiving varied user feedback.

Elden Ring Nightreign

Elden Ring Nightreign is not receiving the best user reviews, which might not be surprising given its experimental nature. After 19 hours, I found myself increasingly enjoying its chaotic gameplay.

Despite the criticism, the game saw impressive numbers on Steam, with a peak of 300,000 players during its launch. As noted by SteamDB, this number has since moderated to around 150,000, which suggests fluctuations are expected.

However, this player drop-off is significant when compared to other games. For instance, Helldivers 2 maintained a higher player count for over a month before halving.

It’s important to note that players might find the progression system confusing, especially since achievements are tied to defeating certain bosses. Whether the baffled players will return remains uncertain, but those who appreciate the Souls-like challenge seem likely to give it another shot.

If you’re struggling, you can find helpful guides for Nightreign on PC Gamer’s dedicated pages.
