A unique Concord commemorative plaque is currently under auction at ShopGoodwill.com, with bidding having already exceeded an impressive $3,000 with just five days left.
“No, that is not a typo. That’s, as of 5:30 pm ET on May 29, three thousand crisp American greenbacks. Just look at it.”
This plaque was supposedly awarded to Chelsea Grace, recognized as the outsourcing and co-development lead on Concord. However, it remains unclear how the plaque ended up on Goodwill’s auction site. It could have been donated or discarded as a reminder of the game’s failure.
Concord, which had high hopes, suffered a critical failure after a significant financial investment. Following its quick removal from live operation, the game and its associated development studio were permanently closed by Sony.
Despite the unfavorable history surrounding Concord, the auction has drawn 41 bids thus far, and prices are expected to rise further before the auction concludes on June 3.
The bidding for the plaque reflects the peculiar interest in what has become a unique piece of gaming history.
