War Sails, the Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord expansion announced in March, has been delayed. Instead of launching on June 17 as planned, developer TaleWorlds Entertainment says it’s now on track for release in early fall.
“After taking a hard look at where things stand, it became clear we won’t be ready by the originally planned release date of June 17th,” the studio wrote in an update. Translation: After thorough consideration and considerable meetings, we concluded that the original date was not feasible.
The developers emphasized the importance of taking the extra time to maintain a quality standard that players expect. The additional period of development will allow for further polish and enhancements to the base game that are already underway.
This decision reflects the ambition behind the upcoming expansion, which includes:
- A new Nords faction with their home, the Northern Kingdom
- Naval warfare powered by realistic wind and water physics, along with boarding and ramming mechanics
- A variety of 18 ships with various upgrade options
- Navigable rivers and a wider map featuring the northern sea and islands
- New companions, cosmetic items, and improvements to gameplay mechanics.
TaleWorlds is currently revising its timeline for the expansion and anticipates announcing a new release date in the coming weeks. Additionally, a free content update is also on the horizon, promising even more features for players.
