Capcom Reports Over 60% of Digital Sales in 2024 Came From PC
In a significant shift, Capcom reveals that PC sales account for more than 60% of its digital game revenue in the last fiscal year.
Capcom’s Digital Sales Shift
Capcom has undergone a transformation in its approach to PC gaming, moving from a minimal presence to a leading one. Historically, the company didn’t prioritize PC gaming, but that has dramatically changed in recent years.
Recent reports indicate that Capcom achieved its eighth consecutive year of record profits, thanks largely to the success of titles like Monster Hunter Wilds. Notably, over 60% of Capcom’s digital game sales now come from PC, which is up from 52% the year prior.
The growth in PC sales is impressive, with unit sales jumping from 21.6 million units in FY23 to 28.2 million in FY24, contrasting with a slight decline in console sales.
This rise signals a shift in focus from Capcom towards the PC audience, necessitating simultaneous releases of their games on both PC and console platforms.
As Capcom continues to harness this momentum, the interplay between PC and console gaming remains pivotal in the gaming landscape, marking a promising future for gamers across platforms.
