Teen-Developed Roblox Farming Game Reaches Peak of 8.9 Million Concurrent Players, Surpassing Steam's 11.5 Million

The Roblox game 'Grow a Garden' created by a teenager sets a new record for concurrent players, surprising many in the gaming community.

All indications point to Grow a Garden, a Roblox title developed by a young creator, becoming the largest PC gaming phenomenon of 2025. This game recently achieved a staggering peak of 8.9 million players logged in and actively engaging simultaneously. This remarkable number is almost three times the peak of Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds and was shared by Game File, featuring insights from its lead developer.

On May 21, a report by Nicole Carpenter highlighted the game’s rapid player growth, noting that it had previously recorded 5 million concurrent players just a week earlier.

Also, according to multiple Roblox content creators and visible player stats, Grow a Garden recently held a major event that brought the total to 8.9 million concurrent players. This number surpasses the population of New York City and comes very close to the all-time peak of simultaneously engaged players across all Steam games.

Additional Insights

  • Previous Record Holder: PUBG’s record was at 3.26 million in-game players on Steam.
  • Total Steam Peak on May 24, 2025: 11.6 million players.
  • Despite skepticism regarding bot activity skewing numbers, Roblox developers assert the game’s popularity stems from authentic engagement and community interaction, not artificial spikes.

The success of Grow a Garden draws comparisons to Farmville and well-known titles like Stardew Valley. Players cultivate gardens in a casual and non-violent environment, following a gamified farming experience.
