BLAST Sticks to Its Decision on Major Substitution Amidst Threat of Legal Action from BESTIA CEO

The tournament organizer clarifies the reasons that resulted in Legacy being chosen over BESTIA for the upcoming Austin Major.

The tournament organizers have provided additional details around the events that led to Legacy being chosen over BESTIA for the upcoming Austin Major.

BLAST noted they have confirmed their decision to replace BESTIA with Legacy due to the Argentinian team’s failure to supply necessary visa documentation for all players before the May 21 deadline.

“As is the case for any of our events, all teams must comply with the visa requirements of the host country. Each team is ultimately responsible for securing their players’ visas, which are subject to the host country’s discretion.”

The statement emphasizes that BLAST maintained ongoing communication to assist BESTIA throughout their visa application process, which included multiple appointments where they did not successfully secure the necessary player visas.

Moreover, on May 21, BLAST announced that Legacy, hailing from South America, would replace BESTIA in the upcoming competition having attained all the required travel documents. Shortly after this announcement, Valve released the Austin Major sticker capsule featuring Legacy in lieu of BESTIA.

Despite the eventual issuance of visas to some of BESTIA’s players, BLAST underscored that they were not obtained in time, thus enforcing the tournament rules which all teams were notified about.

In response, BESTIA’s CEO, Alejandro “PapoMC” Lococo, declared their intent to pursue legal action, asserting his belief in an unjust situation:

“You know you’re doing the wrong thing. We aimed to resolve this equitably. See you in court.”

Lococo reiterated that his organization would not stand idle as their players’ aspirations were jeopardized.

In a prior discussion, Rodrigo “pino” Manarino, BESTIA’s manager, refuted BLAST’s allegations of a communication breakdown and challenged the assertion that the team improperly commenced the visa application process.
