Paradox Revives White Wolf for Tabletop RPGs and New Video Games
Paradox Interactive announces the return of White Wolf to oversee Vampire: The Masquerade and expand its gaming portfolio.
After being effectively closed down in 2018, White Wolf is making a comeback as the official licensing and publishing entity for the World of Darkness series. Paradox Interactive aims to leverage the brand for various media, including tabletop role-playing games and video games.
White Wolf will co-publish the anticipated Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, slated for release in October. Marco Behrmann, EVP of World of Darkness, expressed excitement about the opportunity to bring back White Wolf as a significant player in the gaming industry. With this relaunch, White Wolf seeks to solidify its transmedia presence while allowing fans to engage with both classic and new intellectual properties more efficiently.
“I’m incredibly excited and proud to bring back White Wolf as an independent business entity… This lets us develop both classic and new IPs faster and with a clearer long-term transmedia vision, always in collaboration with our passionate fans and partners,” Behrmann stated.
The resurrection comes after a rocky history; White Wolf was previously integrated into Paradox and then dismantled in 2018 after controversies surrounding its publications. Many hope that its return will restore fan expectations and market stability for the World of Darkness IP.
