FMPONE Discusses Valve's Interest in Cache: 'They Reached Out Immediately'
The beloved CS map Cache is expected to return after the creator revealed Valve's early interest.
The beloved map Cache appears poised for a comeback in CS2 following revelations from its creator, Shawn ‘FMPONE’ Snelling, concerning early interest from Valve.
In a recent exchange concerning Cache’s name surfacing in CS2’s game files due to an update, Snelling was asked to confirm its return. He stated:
“Out of respect for the development team I withheld comment, but they reached out to buy it on day one of release. It was a great honor and I don’t want anyone to think we hesitated for one moment.”
Cache, originally launched in 2014, was a staple in CS:GO until its removal in 2019 in favor of Vertigo. Unique as the only community-owned map to participate in the competitive rotation, its potential return is highly anticipated.
In February 2024, FMPONE initially hinted at a CS2 remake, which became available on the game’s workshop in March.
