Valve Approves Lenovo Legion Go S for SteamOS: Enhancements in Compatibility and Battery Management

Valve's latest update for SteamOS introduces significant support for more AMD devices and refines controller functionality, enhancing the handheld gaming landscape.

Happy Steam update day! Valve’s 3.7.8 update for its SteamOS gaming platform now officially includes the 80% battery limit feature from beta testing. This enhancement expands support for AMD devices, notably improving compatibility with the Rog Ally and the original Lenovo Legion Go.

This update also marks the certification of the Lenovo Legion Go S, the next-generation handheld which is set to compete directly with the Steam Deck, giving it a strong foundation of support on the SteamOS platform.

Controller support improvements mean fewer connection issues with devices like the Nintendo Switch controllers. Now, these controllers are expected to connect seamlessly, and users will benefit from added compatibility with the Proteus Controller, a modular device for enhanced accessibility.

Valve has also added useful features for Bluetooth users, such as battery level indicators and wakelock functionalities for non-OLED screens.

With various fixes and updates from Valve, this push for better AMD compatibility and battery life enhancement on device support can be seen as a strong signal for the future of handheld gaming on Windows-like devices.
