In a notable update, Lies of P, the RPG inspired by the tale of Pinocchio with Souls-like mechanics, will introduce a new easy mode alongside an expansion titled Overture.
This forthcoming free update not only features the easy mode—which encourages a wider range of players to engage with the game—but also will include a Boss Rush mode and a “Battle Memories” section for adjusting the challenge of boss encounters.
New Difficulty Options
The update promises two additional difficulty settings named ‘Butterfly’s Guidance’ and ‘Awakened Puppet’, which break away from the traditional struggles expected in Soulslike titles. This change has sparked discussions within the gaming community, especially considering the genre’s historical resistance to providing easier options.
According to Jiwon Choi, the game director, the team aims to attract a broader audience. Player feedback played a crucial role in this decision, ensuring that adjustments made during development will cater to diverse preferences in gameplay experience. “By making development adjustments and introducing these difficulty options, we can offer the experience to different types of players,” Choi stated during a roundtable discussion.
Anticipation for Overture
The expansion, along with these new modes, is set to launch in the coming summer, with all new settings available across both the core game and the additional campaign for Overture.
As the debate around game difficulty continues, Lies of P stands at the forefront, seeking to balance accessibility with the unique thrill of overcoming challenging gameplay.
