Razer’s New Super-Skinny Blade 14 Gaming Laptop: A Serious Wallet Challenge
Help! This is the gaming laptop I’ve been waiting for, but my bank account won’t be pleased with it.
Razer has announced its new Blade 14 just in time for Computex 2025. It’s the thin and light gaming laptop I’ve been anticipating, but there’s a catch.
The Blade 14 is just 0.62 inches thick and weighs 1.63 kg (3.59 lbs). Razer maintains its iconic minimalist, all-black design alongside unibody milled aluminum build, which is a great feature for durability.
Similar to the revised Blade 16, the 14 utilizes dual fans and a vapor chamber, though it has a slightly less powerful cooling system than its larger counterpart. Expectations are high, as the Blade 16 was awarded “the best gaming laptop I’ve ever used” by reviewer Dave James.
In terms of specs, Razer has opted for AMD’s Strix Point APU, specifically the 10-core AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 with a Radeon 880M iGPU. More powerful versions with up to 12 CPU cores exist, but for gaming, balancing performance with compact size is crucial.
At the launch, buyers can choose between the RTX 5060 and RTX 5070 GPUs, both equipped with 8 GB of VRAM, although an upgrade to the RTX 5070 brings an additional cost of $400, resulting in a total of $2,700 for the full configuration.
With a 14-inch 2880 x 1880 120 Hz OLED display, a minimum of 16 GB RAM, and a 1 TB SSD, this laptop is certainly an attractive option for gamers, albeit at a steep price.
Stay tuned for further updates, including an upcoming review of the Blade 14.
