Peripherals specialist Logitech and the repair experts at iFixit have joined forces to promote device longevity. The key component of this partnership will involve selling genuine Logitech spare parts through iFixit, alongside detailed step-by-step repair guides.
Currently, the Logitech Repair Hub on iFixit offers repair tutorials for 24 Logitech devices, including headphones, keyboards, and mice. The guides come with direct links to the relevant parts in the iFixit store. For instance, the tutorial for replacing the battery in the Logitech MX Master includes links to the genuine battery and a full iFixit repair kit, including tools and adhesive tape.
This initiative not only simplifies the repair process but also highlights the importance of ensuring quality replacement parts are available. Supported products now include the MX Master, MX Anywhere, and G Series mice, as well as various Logitech headphones and keyboards.
Logitech and iFixit cite customer sentiment and support for sustainability, alongside efforts to cut costs and minimize e-waste, as major motivations behind this collaboration.
“One of our favorite parts of the G733 design is the replaceable headband. By being easily swappable, users can opt for a style that suits them best. If the strap wears out or you want a different look, you can simply order a new one from Logitech,” said iFixit.
The new partnership, termed “Repairability is Just the Beginning,” signifies an ongoing commitment to enhancing device repair options for consumers.
