Asus Addresses Compatibility Issues with BTF Graphics Cards
Asus has tackled the compatibility problems related to its Back-To-the-Future (BTF) graphics cards with a new update, which allows their use on both BTF and non-BTF motherboards, ensuring a simple power connection for users.
The BTF (Back-To-the-Future) graphics cards developed by Asus present a significant innovation by eliminating the need for traditional power cables, instead relying on an additional connection at the side of the PCIe slot. However, compatibility issues arose since these cards could only function with BTF motherboards. Asus has announced a new solution with the BTF 2.5 update that introduces a detachable GC-HPWR adapter, allowing these graphics cards to be used on both BTF and conventional motherboards.
“We figured out a smart way to solve this,” Sharon Chang from Asus stated. “We added an additional detachable adapter to our BTF graphics cards.”
This new adapter can handle up to 1000 watts of power, ensuring reliability whether used in BTF or non-BTF systems. If a user does not have a compatible motherboard, they can revert to using the original 12-pin cable.
The BTF technology is designed not only to streamline PC builds but to ensure future scalability. As this technology continues to evolve, there will be potential for increased power integration, possibly allowing simultaneous usage of both power delivery methods in future BIOS updates. The buzz around this change indicates that Asus is aiming to establish this technology as an industry standard.
