Two Warhammer 40,000 Titles to Leave Steam Soon, One on Heavy Discount
Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon and Warhammer 40,000: Sanctus Reach will be removed from Steam, with a 90% discount currently available.
UK publisher Slitherine Software has confirmed that its two titles based on the Warhammer 40,000 universe—Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon and Warhammer 40,000: Sanctus Reach—will be permanently delisted from Steam on May 19.
Slitherine announced this decision earlier this week, stating: “We want to inform you that the Warhammer 40,000: Sanctus Reach and Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon franchises will soon be removed from Steam and our website. Starting May 19th, these games and their DLCs will no longer be available for purchase.”
No specific reason for the delisting was provided, but it is presumed that the decision is linked to the expiration of the licensing agreement with Games Workshop. Despite their removal from Steam, both titles will still be available for purchase through GoG, and players who already own them on Steam will continue to have access.
With only two days remaining to buy these games on Steam, the question arises—are they worth it? Both titles draw inspiration from the classic turn-based strategy game, Panzer General. Armageddon features a top-down perspective, while Sanctus Reach offers a three-dimensional grid-based combat experience. Both titles are rated ‘Very Positive’ on Steam, with Armageddon nearing 900 reviews and Sanctus Reach slightly higher at just over 1,100.
Current Discounts Armageddon, alongside its various DLCs, is currently available at a 90% discount. This means you can grab the base game for just $4 (£3.35), while the complete bundle—with all DLCs—costs $9.89 (£8.43). Between the two, Armageddon is touted as the superior title and a better deal overall.
