Pimax has unveiled its latest offering, the Dream Air SE, a lighter and more economical variant of its Dream Air Micro-OLED VR headset. Priced at $899, it’s noted to be significantly more accessible than its predecessor, which retailed for $2,099 with controllers.

The Dream Air SE boasts two 2,560 x 2,560 resolution Micro-OLED panels and tailored pancake lenses, delivering a performance that’s quite impressive, especially for VR enthusiasts looking for high-quality graphics without a hefty price tag. While it doesn’t come with controllers — which are sold separately for an additional cost, raising the total to $1,199 — it offers built-in audio and eye tracking features.

This headset weighs under 150 grams, making it one of the lightest in the market, providing a more comfortable experience during prolonged use. Additionally, users can take advantage of the Pimax Prime membership program to manage their payment in installments if the upfront cost feels overwhelming.

If high-quality VR is your passion but the price has been a barrier, the Dream Air SE may be worth considering for its balance of performance and affordability.
