FURIA's Journey at PGL Astana 2025: Initial Setback but Signs of Promise

FURIA encountered challenges in their debut match at the PGL Astana 2025 event but displayed promising performances throughout.

YEKINDAR showcased an impressive performance on Anubis, engaging in numerous opening duels during the match.

FURIA faced The MongolZ in their first match as an international team at PGL Astana, narrowly losing 1-2 in the Swiss group stage. This was their second encounter with The MongolZ, after a previous 0-2 defeat at PGL Bucharest over a month ago.

In their game, The MongolZ proved dominant on Mirage, with Azbayar “Senzu” Munkhbold achieving an incredible rating of 2.19, setting the stage for what could have been a fast match against FURIA, who had recently transformed their lineup to compete internationally.

On Anubis, despite starting on their favored T side, The MongolZ struggled against strong duels, while Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis provided a boost for FURIA with a 7-1 initial duel ratio, leading them to a 9-3 half-time advantage.

Though The MongolZ rallied after half-time, pulling off four consecutive rounds, FURIA managed to keep pace but ultimately needed to shift to Inferno for a decision.

Danil “molodoy” Golubenko made his international LAN debut with FURIA in front of his home crowd. He contributed some impactful plays although he was not a standout player this time.

On Inferno, Garidmagnai “bLitz” Byambasuren and Senzu dominated, each scoring ratings of 1.50 while The MongolZ achieved a stellar 9-0 start before FURIA finally got on board with three rounds.

Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo attempted to rally his team in the second half, and FURIA managed to cut down the gap, clinching six of the first nine rounds, but fell short against their proficient opponents.
