Pope Leo XIV has made history not only as the first American Pope but also as potentially the first gamer Pope. His favorite pastimes? Playing Wordle and Words With Friends with his brother. In a recent interview, John Prevost described how they spent quality time together before the Conclave. “First, we do Wordle, because this is a regular thing, OK,” Prevost stated. “Then we do Words With Friends. It’s a way to take his mind off the serious aspects of life.”
Interestingly, many might wonder if the Pope finds use for online hints while playing Wordle. Given its viral popularity since its launch in 2022, it isn’t shocking that even a Pope could be caught up in its sway.
John also asked his brother if he had finished watching the Conclave, to which he humorously admitted that he had just seen it. “I wanted to lighten his mood. He carries a huge responsibility now,” Prevost added.
The creator of Wordle, Josh Wardle, once remarked, “I’m building this game for my partner,” highlighting the personal roots of its inception. It’s fascinating to think that a game conceived for loved ones is now engaging the Pope as well.
