EB Games Returns to Canada with a Focus on Community and Innovation
EB Games relaunches in Canada, emphasizing community, nostalgia, and innovation under new ownership.
EB Games is making a comeback in Canada. Now owned by Stephan Tetrault, a prominent figure in collectibles and entertainment, EB Games is set to return as EB Games Canada. This name brings back fond memories for many Canadian gamers, linking them to their first gaming experiences.
Despite the challenges faced by physical retail due to the shift towards online shopping, Tetrault emphasizes that this revival is not just a business tactic but is driven by a desire to rekindle a beloved brand. “This isn’t just a business decision—it’s about bringing something back that Canadians truly loved. We’re going to build something special here, with community, nostalgia, and innovation at its heart,” he stated.
Tetrault’s endeavors in the toy industry with his company, Imports Dragon, which specializes in manufacturing and distributing toys, reflect his commitment to create a unique gaming environment rather than solely focusing on video game sales.
Interestingly, although GameStop acquired EB Games in 2005, the brand continued to exist until its rebranding in 2021. As EB Games reopens, it intends to cater to nostalgic gamers who remember browsing physical stores filled with PC games in boxes, a far cry from today’s digital downloads.
With hopes to engage the community once again, EB Games plans to create a special experience that resonates with its audience.
