AMD Takes Extra Time to Maximize Performance of Upcoming GPUs RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT

AMD is delaying the launch of its RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT graphics cards to optimize performance ahead of their release.

AMD is keen to ensure the optimal performance of its upcoming GPUs, the Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT, which are expected to launch in March. According to the company’s VP David McAfee, they are “taking a little extra time to optimize the software stack for maximum performance and enable more FSR 4 titles.”

Originally anticipated for CES 2025, the launch of these GPUs has seen noticeable delays without a clear release date. McAfee recently confirmed that they would go on sale in March. This postponement is speculated to be influenced by Nvidia’s announcement of competitively priced RTX 5070 models.

Azor has supported McAfee’s claims, indicating that the RTX 50 series announcement “went into our decision” to hold off on providing more details about these GPUs. While the delay raises some concerns regarding the product’s confidence, AMD asserts that maximizing performance is their ultimate goal.

“I really appreciate the excitement for RDNA4. We are focused on ensuring we deliver a great set of products with Radeon 9000 series,” McAfee stated via Twitter.

Although AMD faces challenges, they aim to improve the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT before their release, demonstrating their commitment to quality.
