BLAST Adjusts Major Team Registration Deadline for MRQ Teams Following Clarification on Rules

Teams have been granted an extension to finalize their rosters for the Austin Major after receiving updated guideline interpretations.

Qualified teams have been provided an extra four days to complete their roster submissions.

BLAST has postponed the registration deadline for teams entering the Austin Major via the Regional Qualifiers until May 9 at 13:00. This follows updated information that teams can modify both their coach and substitute. The clarification is derived from a discussion initiated by Graham “messioso” Pitt, General Manager of Complexity, who prompted inquiries regarding Article 3.2 of the Major rulebook.

3.2 Team Roster Change
A team cannot adjust their Core Lineup between the MRQ and the Major. However, they can register a different coach or substitute player.

BLAST interpreted the regulation to allow MRQ teams to modify either their coach or substitute player, while Pitt suggested it could apply to both roles. Valve later confirmed that the latter interpretation was correct, prompting BLAST to extend the registration period for MRQ teams to enable further adjustments.

Teams participating in the Major may enlist substitutes among players who participated in the MRQ but did not qualify.

The Major rulebook permits teams to swap players between matches for any reason or during a match only in case of a medical emergency.
