A new installment of Ecco the Dolphin is on its way, with a countdown clock currently running to what is anticipated to be an official reveal at zero hour, which will be reached in a little over 8,500 hours (around 355 days). This means fans will have to wait almost an entire year for the announcement, likely until April 2026.
The countdown can be found on the official website.
In a statement, Ed Annunziata, the original producer for Ecco the Dolphin, expressed enthusiasm about the project: “Me and the entire original team are going to remaster the original Ecco the Dolphin and Tides of Time games. Then we will make a new, third game with contemporary play and GPU sensibilities. Stay tuned to eccothedolphin.com.”
Fans remember Ecco the Dolphin fondly since it debuted on the Sega Genesis in 1992, followed by two sequels. After a long hiatus, interest in the franchise has reignited, and many hope this will mark a significant comeback. What awaits us when the timer strikes zero remains to be seen, but speculations are running high.
