In the latest season of Diablo 4, a few fortunate players stumbled upon some placeholder gloves that granted them extraordinary powers, effectively putting them in “god mode.” This oversight allowed them to dominate the game’s toughest challenges before Blizzard quickly issued a patch to rectify the issue.
It seems that user Alaimo on Bilibili might have been the first to showcase the unintended build that exploited these gloves’ effects. This build utilized devastating traps, resulting in infinite damage outcomes due to the placeholder gloves, which were clearly not meant for regular gameplay.
The gloves, marked with “[PH]” in their part description, enabled players to create damage outputs so high that it exceeded the game’s calculation limits, leading to astonishingly high negative damage numbers.
This would not be the first incident of placeholder items appearing in Diablo 4. Historically, items like this surface during testing phases, overlooked by developers. Previous noteworthy examples include the infamous Martin Fury item from World of Warcraft, which wreaked havoc before it was removed.
While this incident has caused quite a stir, Blizzard has refrained from heavy penalties against players utilizing the placeholder gloves as they did neither interfere with others’ gameplay nor breach any major rules.
