Rockstar has revealed that Grand Theft Auto VI, initially set to launch this year, will now be delayed until May 26, 2026. In a recent update on their official website, the developer stated:
“Grand Theft Auto VI is now set to release on May 26, 2026.”
“We are very sorry that this is later than you expected. The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game.”
The announcement continues:
“With each game we’ve released, our goal has always been to exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.”
This delay marks a significant wait for fans, especially since Grand Theft Auto V was released back in 2013, leading to a wait of more than 13 years for the next installment.
Despite the excitement, Rockstar has yet to confirm if a PC version will be available, making many wonder if additional delays might come after the console release in May 2026.
