Diablo 4 Faces Battle Pass Problems in Season 8

Players are experiencing serious issues with the new Reliquary system introduced in Season 8 of Diablo 4.

Summary

  • Season 8 introduced the Reliquary system as a replacement for the older battle pass.
  • However, Diablo 4’s Reliquaries are bugged and do not give players any rewards despite spending Platinum.
  • Blizzard is currently investigating the Reliquary issue, with no timetable provided for a fix.

Multiple Diablo 4 players have expressed frustration on social media over the broken Reliquary system in Season 8, which was meant to replace the previous battle pass. Players report that while purchasing a Reliquary deducts their Platinum, they receive no rewards in return. Blizzard has confirmed the existence of the bug and is looking into the matter.

The new season, which kicked off on April 29, features the return of Belial, a notorious villain from Diablo 3. Belial, once known as The Lord of Lies and the primary antagonist of the second act in Diablo 3, was sealed by the player’s character in the Black Soulstone. After demolishing the stone, Belial and other trapped Evils managed to escape.

The spotlight on his return is a major aspect of Diablo 4’s Season 8, coinciding with last-minute changes made to the Patch 2.2.0 notes just before the update went live. These updates included adjustments to class balances and bug resolutions.

Reliquary Bug Update

Blizzard posted an update on their official Diablo forums after Patch 2.2.0 launched, confirming that investigations into the Reliquary bug are ongoing. At this stage, no clear timeline has been offered for a resolution and it’s unclear whether affected players will receive refunds on their Platinum or if rewards will be retroactively granted.

As a precaution, Diablo 4 players might consider refraining from spending Platinum until a solution is confirmed. Alongside the Reliquary adjustments, Season 8 has also implemented new features in endgame content, including a mechanic known as Boss Powers, allowing players to customize their experiences further. The combination of events, such as Belial’s reappearance and the anticipated Berserk crossover event in May, suggests a promising array of content in Diablo 4.
