Ubisoft Recalls Its Ownership of Splinter Cell, Adds Achievements to Blacklist 12 Years Later
Ubisoft has introduced Steam achievements to Splinter Cell: Blacklist, bringing new life to the game twelve years after its initial release.
Ubisoft has taken a step back into the spotlight by migrating some long-forgotten games into the realm of Steam achievements. This move focuses on their 2013 stealth-action title, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, marking the first significant update in over a decade.
Worth the Wait
Ubi’s adjustment is part of a larger effort to modernize their extensive Steam library; this shift allows players to engage once more with games that may have felt neglected. Notable past updates include adding achievements to games like Assassin’s Creed 3 and Watch Dogs 2. This decision to reintroduce achievements not only enhances user engagement but also exemplifies improved customer relations.
Players won’t have to worry about re-earning previously obtained achievements on Ubisoft’s platform; simply reopening BlackList will automatically trigger any related achievements earned previously on Ubisoft Connect.
A Call for More Updates
There’s a hope that this revival of Splinter Cell could prompt further enhancements to older titles. Ubisoft has a remake of the initial game in the works, and fans are eager for additional remastered versions of their cherished games.
Given the fans’ nostalgia for early entries in the Splinter Cell series, many are holding out hope that this newfound attention may lead to more updates in the future.
