A Minecraft movie has garnered a massive following, largely due to an extensive marketing campaign, which has included collaborations with major brands like McDonald’s and Monster Munch. However, a peculiar product has come under fire: Creeper Milk, produced by TruMoo, also known as Vanilla Green Lowfat Milk. This item contains petroleum-based synthetic dyes that give it its distinctive green hue.
Available in the U.S. until June 30, this product uses Blue No. 1, a food dye set to be phased out by the end of 2026 due to concerns over its potential effects on children’s behavior, including hyperactivity and allergic reactions.
“For too long, some food producers have been feeding Americans petroleum-based chemicals without their knowledge or consent,” said U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.. “These poisonous compounds offer no nutritional benefit and pose real, measurable dangers to our children’s health and development. That era is coming to an end. We’re restoring gold-standard science, applying common sense, and beginning to earn back the public’s trust. And we’re doing it by working with industry to get these toxic dyes out of the foods our families eat every day.”
The FDA’s goal is to transition the food industry to natural alternatives. FDA Commissioner Marty Makary stated, “Today, the FDA is asking food companies to substitute petrochemical dyes with natural ingredients for American children as they already do in Europe and Canada, given the growing concerns of doctors and parents about the potential role of petroleum-based food dyes.”
It’s noteworthy to mention that Creeper Milk does not exist as a product in either the game or the movie. It’s puzzling why anyone would want to consume the milk from a creature known for its explosive tendencies.
