PS5 Outpaces Xbox in Sales of Indiana Jones Game

Recent analytics report shows that the Indiana Jones game is gaining popularity on PS5, surpassing its Xbox and Steam sales.

Summary

  • Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is selling faster on PS5 compared to Xbox and Steam, according to analytics.
  • Nearly 5 million Xbox users played the game, predominantly through Game Pass.
  • Microsoft hinted at a sequel due to the successful performance of the game across various platforms.

New analytics detail how Indiana Jones and the Great Circle outpaces its Xbox and Steam sales after its PS5 release nearly six months post-initial launch. The game, first available in December 2024, garnered considerable attention from PS5 owners eager to play on their preferred console.

Moreover, during its first week on PS5, it sold over 117,200 copies—significantly surpassing the 91,200 units sold on Steam. Rhys Elliott from Alinea Analytics indicated that under 5 million gamers interacted with the Indiana Jones title on Xbox, mostly through subscription services rather than direct sales, a trend he referred to as “subscription cannibalization.”

“Indiana Jones is selling copies on PS5 faster than it did on Xbox/Steam. Our estimates show that just under 5 million Xbox players checked out Indiana Jones. The vast majority of these came in via Game Pass. Subscription cannibalization is real — Rhys Elliott (2025-04-25)”.

While the finding is beneficial for Microsoft, dissatisfaction remains among some PS5 users concerning the physical version’s minimal data capacity, leading to sizable download requirements.
