World of Warcraft Introduces Turbo Boost for Season 2

A new Turbo Boost event in World of Warcraft enhances gear upgrades and introduces additional rewards for players as they progress through Season 2.

Summary

  • The Turbo Boost event in World of Warcraft extends gear upgrade tracks, boosts drop rates, and provides bonus rewards for progression.
  • A new weekly quest in World of Warcraft allows players to earn Puzzling Cartel Chips for raid gear purchases.
  • Despite early season improvements, restrictions on Heroic and Mythic gear in the Turbo Boost event have left some players disappointed.

World of Warcraft just announced Turbo Boost, an event that will help players gear up for the remainder of The War Within Season 2. With a weekly quest that rewards extra raid gear, improvements to Delve rewards and progression, and more, this World of Warcraft progression boost lasts from May 13 until Patch 11.2 launches several months from now.

On April 22, World of Warcraft released Patch 11.1.5, introducing the Nightfall scenario, Cooldown Manager, and Winds of Mysterious Fortune leveling event to the game. It also marked the first of two updates between Patch 11.1, Undermine(d), and Patch 11.2, meaning players are roughly a third of the way through The War Within Season 2.

To help fans along for the rest of the season, World of Warcraft has announced a brand-new event. Titled Turbo Boost, this update speeds up gearing and progression across the board. Hero and Myth gear will have their upgrade tracks extended to eight levels, Warbound until Equipped gear will drop twice as often from Mythic+ dungeons, and Delves will grant more rewards, Delver’s Journey progress, and experience for Brann. What’s more, crafters can further enhance gear made with Sparks of Fortune by using Augmentation Matrices, the cap on Crests will be removed, and Valorstones can be transferred to other World of Warcraft characters on one’s account. The event goes live on May 13 and will last for the remainder of Season 2.

World of Warcraft: The War Within Season 2 Turbo Boost Details

  • Hero and Myth gear upgrade tracks extended to 8 (was 6)
  • Mythic+ drop rates for Warband until Equipped gear doubled
  • Cap for Crests lifted
  • Valorstones transferable across Warband
  • Delves provide bonus Crests, Valorstones, Delver’s Journey progress, and experience for Brann
  • Spark of Fortune crafted gear can be further improved with Augmentation Matricies
  • New weekly quest to earn Puzzling Cartel Chips
    • Defeat four Liberation of Undermine bosses to earn one Puzzling Cartel Chip
    • Three Puzzling Cartel Chips can purchase one piece of raid gear, six maximum per character
    • Heroic and Mythic gear requires associated bosses to be defeated on that difficulty

While fans appreciate these enhancements, they express surprise that these adjustments come early in the season. Additionally, restrictions on Heroic and Mythic gear have disappointed many, particularly when compared to similar systems from past expansions like Puzzling Cartel Dinars from Shadowlands or Antique Bronze Bullions from WoW: Dragonflight.

Ultimately, this event represents yet another feature of World of Warcraft Patch 11.1.5 that didn’t launch with the other updates. With several features delayed and existing content plagued with issues, concerns regarding Turbo Boost have left many players unsatisfied. Players hope future updates will address these concerns.
