Intel Core Ultra 200S Boost Profile Won't Void Warranties, Say Major PC Builders

Major gaming PC manufacturers affirm that enabling the Boost profile for Intel's Core Ultra 200S processors will not void warranties, ensuring gamers can benefit from enhanced performance.

Intel has rolled out a free performance boost for its Core Ultra 200S series processors through a new Boost Overclocking Profile available in the BIOS. While boxed processors allow users to enable this without risking warranty issues, Intel clarified that the warranties for systems purchased from OEMs or custom builders are solely covered by those manufacturers.

Several major system builders, such as iBuyPower and Overclockers UK, have indicated that activating this Boost profile will not void warranties.

Responses from System Builders

  1. iBuyPower stated:

“If a customer purchases an iBuyPower PC with the 200S Boost Profile advertised, it will be covered by our total system warranty.

Their commitment extends even to systems bought without the advertised profile; original warranties will still apply if the user enables the profile later.

  2. Overclockers UK echoed this positive outlook:

“As per our PC System warranty, customers may modify and upgrade their PC as they see fit. Issues arising from user modifications can be repaired while restoring the system to its original state.”

Performance Considerations

The Boost profile, while designed for increased performance, may lead to variations in stability and frame rates across different games. Reports suggest significant gains in frame rates in certain titles, making its activation favorable despite potential increases in power consumption compared to Intel’s previous generation CPUs.

As a result, gamers using products from iBuyPower and Overclockers UK can confidently enable this feature without risking their warranties.
