Bethesda has announced a revamped leveling system for Oblivion Remastered, which aims to enhance player experience without the need to grind minor skills for effective leveling.
When discussing the changes, Dan Lee, art lead for Bethesda Game Studios stated, “Let me do that one again.”
He emphasized, “We’ve changed the approach to leveling, which I think will make a lot of people happy.” Indeed, the original leveling mechanism was flawed, causing players to unintentionally end up with inadequate stat boosts.
Players previously had to exploit minor skills to gain sufficient points to allocate upon leveling up, creating an inefficient gaming dynamic. Now, with the new system, players receive a set amount of 12 points—termed ‘virtues’—to enhance their attributes every time they level up, irrespective of their skill usage.
Key Changes:
- Both major and minor skills now contribute to leveling.
- Agility enhances damage with shortswords, daggers, and bows.
- Boosting your Endurance retroactively increases your hit points from previous level-ups.
With this systematic revamp, players can now fully enjoy the immersive experience of Oblivion without the previous frustrations.
