Kasper Straube, the recently dismissed Sports Director of Astralis, has shared his thoughts on the decision, one he interprets as a natural consequence in competitive environments. He stated:
“It’s no secret that the ambitions and results in Astralis have not matched. That’s why I think it’s natural the management has made the decision they have. In a professional environment, we are all constantly measured and weighed.”
Straube’s tenure saw him overseeing Astralis during three out of five major qualifiers where the team fell short. After taking over from Kasper Hvidt in July 2023, his leadership aimed at returning the team to its glory. Despite failing to achieve expected results, he expressed satisfaction with his contributions:
“I’m obviously disappointed that we didn’t achieve the results we wanted, but I’m satisfied with the work I delivered during my time at Astralis.”
Looking ahead, he remains optimistic about his future in esports:
“Whether my future lies in or outside of esports depends a lot on what projects come up. I can certainly see my future in esports, but not at any price.”
