Mod Community Activates for Oblivion Remastered Despite No Official Support
Despite Bethesda's lack of official mod support for Oblivion Remastered, the modding community is already producing functional mods.
The community around modding has been buzzing with excitement following the release of Oblivion Remastered. Although Bethesda has declared that mods are not officially supported, the reality appears different - modders are already rolling out their creations.
Bethesda’s support page stated, “Mods are not supported for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered,” indicating limitations. However, the usual modding community has begun to develop mods, quickly sharing them on platforms like NexusMods, and reports confirm they are functional.
Interestingly, Bethesda hinted at the possibility of modding when it noted, “If you are experiencing gameplay issues while playing with mods, it’s recommended you first try uninstalling your mods.” This suggests that while not officially supported, modding could still be viable.
On Reddit, users are dissecting the new game code. One user mentioned that Oblivion Remastered files can still be accessed via the old Construction Kit, leading to speculation about possible modding capabilities, especially given the incorporation of Unreal Engine 5 graphics into the original game’s structure.
While Bethesda’s comments might deter some from attempting modding, many believe it’s just a matter of time before extensive mods emerge. Within hours of the launch, the Unreal script extender was already available on NexusMods along with numerous other mods ranging from simple quality-of-life changes to more complex alterations. Some old mods are being updated for this new version, showing that the legacy of Oblivion continues to thrive.
As interest mounts, we can expect more creations to come from the modding community, ensuring that players have fresh content to explore in Oblivion Remastered.
