Intel's New Battlemage GPU Spotted: Potential $400 RTX 5070 Challenger

Intel's latest graphics card may rival Nvidia's offerings with impressive specs and competitive pricing.

A new variant of Intel’s Battlemage graphics card is rumored to be on the way, with hopes that it could rival Nvidia’s offerings as a potential $400 competitor to the RTX 5070.

The speculation comes after a listing for the Intel BMG-31 GPU surfaced in a shipping manifest. This new GPU is expected to provide performance on par with the RTX 5070 but at a much lower price. The existing Intel Arc B580 GPUs use the BMG-G21 chip, while the G31 is anticipated as the next upgrade in the Battlemage series.

According to leaks, the G31 reportedly features 32 execution units (EUs), offering a significant boost compared to the 20 EUs found in the Intel Arc B580. This improvement suggests that the G31 could deliver around 50% more performance, making it competitive against established options like Nvidia’s RTX 5070 or AMD’s Radeon RX 9070.

However, it’s essential to note that the listing merely indicates the GPU is in development, and it has yet to be confirmed for retail release. Previous reports hinted that the G31’s retail production might have been scrapped. The shipping manifest identified the GPU as an “R&D” item, which is typical for pre-launch products.

Despite the uncertainty, the anticipation for a G31-based graphics card continues to grow. If priced correctly, it could provide compelling specifications that would settle at a retail price around $400, directly targeting the RTX 5070 market.

Conclusion

While there’s still much to learn about Intel’s plans for the G31, the tech community eagerly awaits any updates regarding its potential launch.
